My dad has has season tickets to the Angels since I was in high school. Going to the games has always been a favorite pastime, but since the arrival of the three kids, we have gone less and less. My dad happen to have 8 tickets to tonight's game so Rob and I went with Ry and Jake and Staci, Hannah and her boyfriend. The idea was that Rob and I would sit in one set of seats with Jake, while Staci and her boyfriend sat with Ry and Hannah. Now you have to understand that Jake did not go to an Angel game last year, because he does not handle crowds well and tends to get overwhelmed. But, we thought he could maybe handle it this year. Once we got there Staci, her boyfriend and the girls left to go to their seats and Rob, Jake and I headed to ours. Jake immediately threw himself on the floor screaming he wanted his Auntie. Rob and I tried to get him up (crowded stadium with lots of dirty looks), but he wouldn't give in. We decided to try and walk, and Jake followed, screaming and crawling through Angel stadium. We finally got him to the seat, in which he started screaming he was scared and wanted to leave (he hates fireworks and remembered them from a couple years ago). Finally Jake and I went and sat outside the stadium, while Rob watched the game. Staci decided to try to let Jake sit with her and he lasted 3 innings, before we needed to leave. Needless to say, we will not be taking Jake to any more games this year.
This is one of those times when I just wish for a "normal" life, but know that it isn't in the plan. Hopefully someday my son will be able to sit through a baseball game without freaking out, but for now we will stick to the TV. I also don't anticipate trying to take Luke any time soon.
