A Good Day

Okay, yes I know I am behind in my daily picture. I have a file full of them and just need to sit down and get caught up. But, as I sit here I feel called to write about something else today. You see today's sermon was all about following God's path even in unimaginable circumstances. Pastor Tom pointed out that God has a plan for our life, but that Satan also has a plan for our life and we need to know and understand that. As I look back on my life I have been so blessed. I have parents that raised me to love the Lord and showed me what it means to love unconditionally. I was given opportunities that many do not receive and graduated college to get a job that I love in education. God allowed me to meet my soul mate back in elementary school, go to high school together and get married. Then God showed me what it is to truly trust and have faith. We have had some trials and God brought us through. Now that I look back, I can see how Satan attacked and tried to have Rob and I follow his plan. Yet, I cannot express my gratitude that God gave us angels that encouraged and lifted us up to show us that God truly was in control. Looking back on the last 5 years, it almost feels like someone else's life. I do admit that at times I was just trying to survive eachday, but how amazing is it that God had a bigger plan? How humbling is it that? We have come so far and I take nothing for granted.

Today I had an amazing day with my family. We went to CA Adventure and the day could not have been more perfect. We always take the boys chairs/strollers and use the "special assistance" pass. Because of that we are surrounded by people who also have "issues" of some sort. I was brought to tears as I sat next to a mentally handicapped teenager and watched her with her dad and how they interacted. She was so excited to see the Playhouse Disney show and her dad was so sweet and patient with her. I then looked down at my husband and children and felt so incredibly blessed. Sometime I feel the future is so scary, but at that moment I felt peace, look how far we have come. God has brought us through some of the lowest points of my life and look at the miracles I get to love and be with everyday. No matter what the future has I get to have days like today. Lately, I have been somewhat emotional. I feel like FB is an amazing tool to connect and support people you know and love and complete strangers. I am friends with many other TSC moms and other parents with children with severe physical and mental obstacles. I hurt for these people who right now are where we were two and a half years ago. Fearing for their child's life and what the future may or may not hold. I wish there was a way to ease their pain and feel the peace that I felt today. I wish others could be friends with some of these amazing moms who are fighting for their kids. I wish they could see their strength and faith. Both most of all, I wish they could understand that everyday is a blessing. It was a 'ah-ha' moment to know that Satan has his own plan. My prayer is that I continue on the path God wants me to be on, learning from those around me and growing into the person, wife, mom, daughter and friend that God wants me to be. Thank you to the many that inspire me daily.

January 12, 2012 Still Here

Still at UCLA trying to catch seizures. He has had two today and has been taken off one of his seizure mediation's. So, tomorrow they are probably going to take him off another medication. Good news is being of the Frisium does not seem to be affecting him. If we could get off the Frisium permanently it would be one less medication and save us lots of money. So, we will see what tomorrow brings. As you can see Luke is still all smiles, Rob and I are another story :).

January 11, 2012: UCLA

Today we checked into UCLA for Luke's Video EEG. As always he is a trooper and Rob and I are already ready to go home. Now we just need him to have seizures so we can get back home.

January 10,2012: Work and More Work

My students were back today and it was a crazy day. I love my students, and had pretty good day with them. Unfortunately, I also had to set up sub plans for the next three days. I didn't get out of work until after 6 and them it was time to come home and start getting ready for UCLA. It was a tiring day.

January 9, 2012: Back to Work

Today was my first day back at work after the Christmas break. It was just a prep day and the goal was to get my sub plans done for the upcoming UCLA visit. Instead I spent the day just trying to get focused again. I love my job, but it has been nice being home with my own kiddos.

January 8, 2012: More Snow Fun

Our final day in Big Bear was spent walking around the shops and stopping by the lake. It really was a great weekend. Love watching my babies have such a great time!

January 6, 2012: Sleepy Boy

Luke hasn't been feeling well this last week, so I finally took him to the doctor. Thankfully, his lungs sounded clear and his ears did not look red, but he did appear to have a sinus infection. After a morning at urgent care, Lu was wiped out when we went to Target to get his antibiotic filled. While we waited at the pharmacy, he was no longer able to keep his eyes open. My poor boy actually started snoring. I was glad I took him in and got the medication, since later we planned on leaving for a fun-filled weekend in Big Bear.

January 5, 2012: Date Night

Getting time out with my superstar, hubby is rare, so when we get some time alone it is a special treat. Since I am still off for Christmas break we had our nurse, Rosa come over, dropped Ry off at my in-laws and escaped to a movie and dinner. We saw Sherlock Holmes, and loved it, and then had a yummy dinner at Market Broiler. I LOVE my kiddos and doing things together as a family, but am so grateful for these moments with Rob.

January 4, 2012: Pop the Pig

For Christmas Santa brought the game "Pop the Pig," and it has become Luke's new favorite game. He loves feeding the pig and watching his stomach grow. As silly as a game it seems, it is actually really good for Luke. We practice reading the numbers and then count as we pump the tummy. Luke just laughs and laughs.

January 3, 2012: Snacktime

Today was a good day. The bad part was Luke was still really sick and it took me 3 hours to get his fever down this morning. The good part is, his fever did go down and I got to cuddle with my boy until we had to pick Ry and Jake up from school. Lu and I walked to pick them up, and more good news, Jake had a blue day at school (that means a good day). To celebrate we came home and had Drumsticks for an afternoon snack. As a working mom, I treasure the days I get to stay home and pick my kiddos up from work. Love my job, but really wish I could do it everyday!

January 2, 2012: Another Quiet Day

Today was another quiet day on the homefront. Lu woke up at 6 with a fever and nasty cough. We had hoped to do something fun, but alas not in the plan. We watched the Rose Parade, while Rob did the breathing treatments. Later, we did a quick trip to Sam's Club and then I took Ry and Jake over to my parents to play with Hannah. Not the fun, active day we had hoped for, but a quiet day just being together.

January 1, 2012: A New Year Begins

A 2012 begins I have once again decided to try my picture a day. Life is so crazy and I have not been very good about sitting back and reflecting on my life. As a kid I LOVED writing in my journal and have missed it as I have gotten older. In the past I have said "I am going to keep up my blog." Yet, I have failed miserably. The only time I was consistent was when I did a picture a day. So, here we go again.
January 1, 2012 started out quiet in the our household. Rob and I were both feeling a little under the weather so we had quiet day at home. Ry decided to take the chance to read one of her new books from Santa. The Cronicles of Narnia is a favorite series of movies in our family, but Ry has never read the books. So, Santa brought Ry the entire series for Christmas. We told her as she finished the books we would watch the movie again. That was motivation enough, Ry spent most of the first day of 2012 reading. She did finish the book and we finished out New Year's Day watching the movie.
