Start of 2016

Two days, two adventures to kick off 2016. There are times we question how much to do with the kids and what they actually have fun doing. We wonder is it worth the stress and preparation to do activities that most families enjoy everyday. But, when all is said and done, we choose life for our kids. We want the to experience adventures and see incredible sights. We want them to know that their disabilities don't limit them and we want them to live to the fullest.

So the last few years we decided that we would start each year off with some sort of family activity. The last few years we have gone to the snow, explored tide pools, and headed to Disneyland. Yesterday we decided to go to the LA Zoo. The last time we went to the LA Zoo, it was not a great. Jake got so excited anticipating the animals that by the time we got there all he did was meltdown. We did have one small struggle yesterday, but over all it was a really great day! It helped that the weather was beautiful and it wasn't too crowded, plus Rob and I have gotten better at reading Jake and knowing when he needs to stop and take a break. Overall it was a great way to kick off 2016.

Then today was our annual trip to see the Rose Parade floats. It is pretty cool because they allow those with disabilities and senior citizens to go in 2 hours before it opens to the public. This means the boys to be able to see the floats from their chars and its not so crowded that they cant get out and look at the floats close up. As always it was a good morning, and because it is early we get to spend the rest of the day relaxing. The beauty and details of the floats are incredible and never fails to impress. Once again thankful that we are able to have this experience each year with our kids.
