Rob and I continue to take one day at a time, celebrating the accomplishments and leaning on each other in the obstacles. There is no denying that Tuberous Sclerosis Complex is a HUGE part of our life and although we say it does not define us, in reality, it does. Everything we do works around TSC and the "normal" that it brings. We deal with daily seizures, constant behavior issues, the fear of the unknown and the struggles of how to best care for our family. We wake up each morning, do medications and then evaluate how to help each of our kiddos have a successful day. Then as we go to bed each night we sit back and evaluate what brought smiles, what brought frustration and how we could have been better. It is a never ending process that we face because of TSC.
With that being said, we continue to be so thankful for what this life teaches us daily and the impact we see it make on those around us. God has shown us over and over again that it is HIS plan and not OURS. Our goal is to focus on the positive and acknowledge the daily blessings, which there are many. Are we always successful? No, but that is because we are human. Part of the journey is admitting there will be days of defeat, looking back at how God carried us through the rough moments and then looking forward to tomorrow.
Overall, it has been a good year. Luke has had the best seizure control since he was 3 months old, which has allowed him to grow and develop physically and mentally. Jake continues to have seizure control with medication and Port View Prep has been good for his behavior and development. Ry began high school and although it has not been easy, she is holding her own academically and physically (in volleyball). This year brought much laughter and it brought many tears. We have continued to learn so much about God's amazing grace and to have faith in those moments of undeniable fear.
We are so thankful for those that love us, pray for us and encourage us daily. There is a lot to be said for an understanding smile or positive comment. This is the fuel that continuously shows us God's love! As we say goodbye o 2015 and anticipate what 2016 will bring, we are thankful! Thankful for what God reveals to us daily in each triumph and each defeat, thankful that we are not alone on this adventure and thankful that despite it all we are surrounded by joy!
I hope you realize that your strength and grace and optimism do not go unnoticed. The life you look at with such faith is a joy to see, even from afar; it renews hope in Jesus's promises to make all things new. Blessings to you all in the new year!
